ABOUT SILVER-TALES

When Mom and Dad forget how hard growing up can be, their zany twins rush across the street to Grandma and Grandpa. They help their grandkids learn to solve problems by reminding them — through stories and songs — that even their parents were once kids too.

Created for younger children, SILVER-TALES celebrates that special grandparent relationship. Drawing on traditional family values, Grandma and Grandpa use hilarious memories about their own children when they were growing up to teach valuable social skills and provide entertaining life lessons.

SILVER-TALES presents a strong social-emotional-developmental curriculum.

It empowers young children with perspective-taking, an essential life skill that raises empathy to the next level. SILVER-TALES uses the power of storytelling – reinforced with songs – to teach:

Critical Thinking

Cooperation

Patience

Perseverance

Flexibility

Responsibility

Self-Regulation

Integrity

Respect

Conflict Resolution

Caring

Self-Control

Kindness

Honesty

And More!

Meet the Foxx Family!

WISE AND WILY PLAYERS: YOUNG AND OLD, FROM THE TOWN OF SILVERBURG

Silverburg is populated by foxes who live in houses rather than holes, they go to school, work, and, in general, exhibit human behavior. Most of our action takes place in Hallie and Hunter’s house and across the street in the home of Grandma Sylvia and Grandpa Sterling.

Hunter

Hunter is adventurous, observant and LOUD. He has very strong opinions of what he likes (drums) and what he doesn’t like (bedtime). He’s always right—even when wrong—but thanks to his grandparents, he’ll become less defiant and judgmental by his next birthday.

Hallie

Hallie is spirited, chatty, inquisitive and athletic. Prone to occasional embellishments, she is going through a not-so-adorable drama queen stage, which will hopefully be nipped in the bud with the help of her grandparents.

Mom & Dad

Mom and Dad, like most parents, are hardworking and child-centered, though often frustrated by the nonstop sibling squabbles and limit-testing. Luckily, they have Grandma Sylvia and Grandpa Sterling right across the street to step in and provide support, snacks, and solutions.

Grandpa Sterling

Grandpa Sterling is a retired dentist. The consummate storyteller, he had lots of experience with patients who couldn’t answer with mouths opened wide. He is the master of really unimportant facts that he loves to share with Hallie and Hunter for whom his patience—and love—is unbounded!

Grandma Sylvia

Grandma Sylvia is an avid photographer. She maintains giant well-organized family albums full of amazing family memories. A bit of a neatnik, she gets mildly perturbed when the twins wreak havoc in her home, but this gives her many
opportunities to have them practice their clean-up skills.

The only thing as good as grandparents’ hugs are their stories!

IT’S STORYTIME

When Hallie and Hunter present their widely-differing points of view about the dilemma at hand, Grandma and Grandpa share a wonderful tale about Mom
and Dad when they were young.

Grandma and Grandpa’s stories include role modeling and a positive message about consequences and resolutions. As the story ends, Hallie and Hunter, armed with a happy solution and new problem-solving techniques, beg for another story.
